EFD Services - Mis Sold Solar Panel Claims

Have you been mis-sold solar panels by EFD Services and promised returns that never came? Our panel of Mis-sold Solar Panel Solicitors may be able to help you claim compensation.

EFD Services were a Yorkshire-based Solar Panel installation firm. The firm was dissolved in July 2019.

They were previously known as Yorkshire Resin Driveways Limited.

EFD Services worked with direct sales agents/employees who would approach individuals in order to sell solar panels for their property. They often used high-pressure selling techniques in order to make their sales, something which is common in the mis-selling of products.

Agents would advise individuals to purchase and install solar panels at their property, and were advised that the benefits of the solar panels will outweigh the costs involved in their purchase.

The claims our panel are seeing are specifically in relation to Solar PV+, which was a product that promised a faster return on investment for newer and existing solar panel installations. EFD Services used this system due to PV systems often generating at full capacity, meaning the solar panel inverter could be in over-voltage mode and not generating any electricity at all. They claimed that the new Solar PV+ system would monitor the incoming supply, allowing the solar PV inverter to stay in circuit for longer, providing a much faster return on investment.

EFD Services “Self-Funding” Solar Panels

Individuals were advised by the EFD Services agents that the “solar panels would pay for themselves”. This will be achieved through two channels –

  1. Cutting existing energy bills
  2. The possibility of generating income from the solar panels

The first is in relation to the claims that the most common solar panel in UK homes is a 3.5kWp system. This means it is potentially capable of generating approximately 3,000kWh of electricity, amounting to 75% of a typical household’s electricity consumption.

The second refers to what solar panel companies call the “Feed-In Tariff”. On top of any generation tariff, clients were advised they would receive a fixed rate for any surplus electricity that they feed back into the national grid.

However, some individuals who were sold these panels never saw the potential income they were promised. They were misled in regards to how much money they could receive back and therefore, they are mis-sold their solar panels on the promise that they will perform much better than they eventually do.
